Joey Dee
Joey Dee serves as the mid-day host on NASH FM 106.5, a country format for Cumulus Radio in Myrtle Beach, SC. Joey is a very positive, upbeat, and energetic personality. And you can tell from his enthusiasm that he thoroughly enjoys what he does. He enjoys watching, talking about and rooting for his MANY favorite sports teams. But without question, he is known as the biggest (and perhaps ONLY) Buffalo Bills football fan south of the Mason Dixon line! When not dreaming of, “…just another chance in the Super Bowl” and when not explaining to anyone who will listen that, “…the Bills are stacked with talent this year”, Joey stays active on social media and is know far and wide along the Grand Strand as the King of Karaoke.
Joey’s path to a radio career started right out of High School when he landed a part time job at his College radio station, Evangel University, in Springfield, Mo. in 1985. By, 1989 he landed his first full time gig doing Overnights at Adult Contemporary powerhouse WGNI in Wilmington, NC. Country quickly became his format of choice and in February 1993 he debuted with 99.9 KIX-FM (WKXB) in Wilmington. It was at KIX in 1996 where Joey first became a Program Director.
In the summer of 1999, Joey took the 90 minute trek south to Myrtle Beach, accepting the job of Program Director at WGTR, Gator 107.9. His radio journey continued in February of 2007 where cross-town rival and Cumulus owned “The Big Yak! WYAK (now WLFF) hired Joey as their PD and PMD host. That was followed by a short stint as PD of WDJR/WTVY in Dothaaaaan, Alabama (a salute to broadcast legend Keith Jackson).
While planning a move back to Myrtle Beach in August of 2012, Joey called his old friend Night Train (the PD at WLFF) to let him know of his intentions of “moving home” and he was quickly invited to once again join the team at Cumulus Myrtle Beach. Who says you can’t go home?
